Aloha, Cannabis!

With no veto from the governor, a new law has officially made Hawaii the 26th state to decriminalize or legalize cannabis. Residents and visitors to Hawaii may now possess up to three grams of cannabis without facing the possibility of jail time.

The decriminalization measure preserves only a $130 fine for possession of three grams or less - the smallest amount decriminalized by a state to date, but undoubtedly a step forward toward broader acceptance of cannabis statewide.

Advocates in Hawaii hope that this may help push further progress toward decriminalization and legalization in the months and years ahead.
